PlayStation Portal, the handheld device that allows you to play your favorite PS5 games via remote play, is out today. But unless you preordered one, you'll probably have difficulty buying one.
The device, previously known under the codename Project Q, retails for $200 with the sole purpose of using a Wi-Fi connection to stream games from your PS5. While some have argued whether or not there was a market for it, those looking to buy one have been having difficulty finding it and sold out at PlayStation Direct and third-party retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.
Checking the listing on PlayStation Direct, a note from Sony mentions that those looking to buy a PlayStation Portal should "check back in early December," as shown in the screenshot image below.
PlayStation advises fans to check its website again in early December for restocking updates.

With demand for the PlayStation Portla high, and some selling it for inflated prices on websites like eBay on average, scalpers are selling it for roughly $300 or more. Many are quick to point out how they were either lucky to preorder. "[S]o apparently the playstation portal is sold out worldwide and now scalpers are gonna have a field day with the price hike… good thing I preordered mines long time ago," user @claw7he wrote.

A few pointed out how the short supply of the PlayStation Portal echoes that of the PS5 stocking issues Sony had roughly three years ago. The console was hard to find at launch (and the many months to follow), with third-party retailers restocking but selling out instantly.
