Pokémon's different registered species recently surpassed the 1000 mark with the Gen IX releases of Scarlet & Violet. It is fascinating to see how the entire roster is divided across the 18 different types. The original Pokémon games started off with 15, which grew to 17 in Gen II with Steel and Dark, before the Fairy typing arrived as late as Gen VI, in X & Y, bringing the total to 18.
