It's difficult to think what the zombie horror subgenre would look like or how relevant it would be today if it weren't for George A. Romero. While Romero didn't necessarily create the figure of the zombie, it was he who popularized these creatures as the modern flesh-eating monsters that replicate, unite in hordes, and pass along an infection with their bite. It was also Romero who addressed the apocalyptical proportions of the zombies, conducting humanity towards their doom and always proposing a discussion about who are the real culprits of the end of the world: the zombies or the humans?
