Man of Steel hit theaters in June 2013 and would go on to launch the reluctantly named DC Extended Universe. The DCEU finally united some of DC's greatest heroes on the big screen in the vein of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Warner Bros. struggled to find the same critical and financial success. Now, after a decade of existence, the DCEU is coming to a crashing end with the poor box-office performances of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be the final DCEU product from the old regime that will hit theaters later this year, then the age of the DCU will begin.
