A brand-new Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball: Daima, has been confirmed, and will debut in the fall of 2024.

The news was announced today at New York Comic Con's Dragon Ball panel, where a brief teaser was also shown. While the teaser was blocked out on the livestream initially, Toei Animation released it online shortly after, and it shows a de-aged Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and a whole lot more.

It's being drawn by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and, while there's been plenty of comparisons to GT, it's an original story "never told in Dragon Ball," according to the footage. It was teased during the panel that Toriyama would be involved in Daima "beyond his usual capacity."

We don't know much about it yet, including where it falls in the timeline, but breaking down what was shown in the teaser, Shenron is shown saying "Now, state your wish." We then see Goku being de-aged before getting a look at the various other characters, also including Chi Chi, Pamput, Krillin, Piccolo, and Shin, all in much, well, smaller forms. Check out a series of screenshots below.

Today's news is obviously huge news for Dragon Ball fans, who've been eagerly anticipating updates on a new series since the conclusion of Dragon Ball Super. While some speculated that today's panel would reveal some sort of continuation of Dragon Ball Super following the two movies, it looks like the franchise is going in something of a new direction while also pulling some inspiration from its roots.
