Star Wars Legends is something of a controversial subject nowadays. Legends ended in 2012, but an entirely new course was set for it way back in 1999. Publisher Bantam lost the license to put out Star Wars books, which moved to Del Rey. Lucasfilm editor Sue Rostoni and Del Rey editor Shelly Shapiro teamed with writer James Luceno to plot out the next big Star Wars saga in the books, The New Jedi Order. The New Jedi Order took place twenty-five years after the Battle of Yavin and told the story of an invasion of extra-galactic aliens known as the Yuuzhan Vong with the heroes of the New Republic standing between civilization and enslavement.
