Image Comics was founded by seven of comics' biggest artists - Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, Jim Lee, Erik Larsen, Whilce Potracio, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentine - in 1992. Known for tremendous art but so-so writing, things started to change in the 2000s, as Image started to put out stories that were writer driven instead of artist driven. The 2010s were when Image truly became a prestige comic company.
