The Transformers franchise has been one of the most successful cases of adapting a cartoon -- itself adapted from a toy franchise -- to the big screen. Following the adventures of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and other Autobots in their war against the Decepticons for the fates of humanity and Cybertron, the movies have been incredible. However, they've also suffered from one major problem that an unlikely crossover is set to resolve in future movies. The Transformers IP began life as a widely successful line of toys from Hasbro in the 1980s. Shortly after, a cartoon series was produced, largely to help sell the toys and grow the value of the brand.
