After a noticeable absence last year, Microsoft confirms that Xbox will have some news to share at this year's Game Awards.

In an email sent out to some, including IGN (screenshot below), Microsoft confirmed that it won't be a no-show again at the the 2023 ceremony, teasing fans that there will be "major announcements and more Xbox news you won't want to miss!"

While Microsoft did not explicitly say what type of Xbox news would be at the event, the company has many games in development, and it recently acquired Actvision-Blizzard after a lengthy process.

Xbox's biggest reveal from The Game Awards 2021 was a sizeable gameplay trailer for Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga. But with the studio having several games in development, including Avowed, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Everwild, State of Decay 3, Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, and a Fable reboot, it's really hard to pinpoint whether it will share updates for all or some of these games, or if Xbox plans to announce an entirely new game.

Regardless, The Game Awards is set to air on Dec. 7, and it looks like there will be a few changes to the show's format as producer and host Geoff Keighley confirmed in a recent Q&A that the show will phase out the "World Premiere" label and plans to beef up security to avoid any stage crashers.

Regarding games that Xbox either owns and/or published, it has several titles up for nomination at the 2023 Game Awards, including Hi-Fi Rush, Starfield, Forza Motorsport, and Diablo IV. Check out our roundup for more on all the games getting nominated, regardless of platform exclusivity and publisher.
