The first episode of CW's The Vampire Diaries aired in 2009. It introduced fans to various supernatural characters like the dark and handsome vampire Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), who was in love with his brother's girl, Elena, and Elena's best friend and witch, Bonnie Bennet (Kat Graham). While many characters date and break up throughout the series, a romance between Damon and Bonnie never came to fruition despite there being a blueprint for it in the source material.
