Hell's Paradise does not hold any mercy for its characters and definitely not its audience. A dark anime that could rival Attack on Titan, Hell's Paradise introduced a vast cast of characters only to kill off the majority of them within a few episodes. The anime immerses its audience into a treacherous island of enigmatic beings and dangerous criminals, where the only way off of the island is death. One of those deaths stings harder and is more heart-breaking than most – the fall of Yamada Asaemon, Tenza.
