The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach has (kind of) commented on the rumors that he’ll appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four film.

Hot off of his recent Emmys win last week for his role as Richie in The Bear, the star shared very brief thoughts on whether he would show up to play The Thing in the long-awaited Marvel Cinematic Universe entry during an interview with The Wrap. It’s truthfully not much to go off of, as Moss-Bachrach almost confusingly deflects the question, but he does seem to at least know about the rumors in some form.

When asked whether he can confirm or deny, he simply said, “I can’t confirm, and I can’t deny, I think.”

It’s hardly even a crumb for those hoping the actor will stand alongside other notable faces when the film eventually premieres in 2025. Of course, that didn’t stop MCU fans from latching on with the hope that Moss-Bachrach knows more than he's letting on.

“We need cousin to be the Thing,” X (formerly Twitter) user @Axmdddd said, referencing The Bear.

User @TurtleMac24 shared their excitement as well, reminding others that Moss-Bachrach has previously appeared in Marvel’s Punisher show: “He’s a great actor. I liked him since he played Micro on The Punisher with Jon Bernthal. I’m excited for this casting.”

We still have yet to receive confirmation regarding Fantastic Four’s casting from Marvel, so even though Moss-Bachrach did say…something about the movie, it’s best not to assume he’s got the part until official information is revealed.

Fantastic Four rumors have swept social media sites for years at this point. Fans had, at one point, spread the word that The Boys’ Jack Quaid would appear as Johnny Storm before he outright denied the rumors last summer. Adam Driver is another name that was floated around for Reed Richards before reports eventually suggested that Pascal was in talks for the role.

Information about the film itself is being kept under wraps, though we do have a few details to latch onto. Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman says that the plan is start filming sometime in spring this year. He’s also said that the long-running comedy series, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will influence the movie.

Fantastic Four is currently slated to premiere on May 2, 2024.
