Dungeons & Dragons has been around long enough to generate its own cliches. Its community has developed several go-to punchlines for many parts of the game based on their ubiquity. These range from stereotypical player characters to common DM foibles. In particular, many adventure hooks have developed a reputation for being played out and cliche.
