Kaiju movies are a wonderful subgenre, and no country has produced more memorable ones than Japan. Japanese cinema has spawned some of the greatest monsters, such as Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, and many others. These kaiju are known for their prodigious size and unparalleled power, which has made them iconic mainstays in film. As great as Japanese cinema is at creating kaiju, American cinema struggles with creating giant monsters.
