A bold new era of Doctor Who has begun with the sci-fi series' 60th anniversary specials. Russell T Davies -- the man responsible for bringing Doctor Who back to television in 2005 after its 16-year hiatus -- is back at the helm and is kicking things off with three specials that feature the return of David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. These specials will culminate in the introduction of Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, who is set to kick off the new era proper on Christmas Day. Doctor Who's 2023 Christmas special will see Gatwa's Doctor meeting his new companion, Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday, setting the stage for what has officially been dubbed Season 1 of a new era of Doctor Who.
