During The Game Awards today, two of 2023's indie darlings announced some sort of collaboration. We're getting some sort of crossover between Dave the Diver and Dredge on December 15. But what that collaboration is, which game it is actually taking place in, or anything else was a mystery in the moment.
Fortunately, a press release following the news helped clear things up. Dave the Diver is getting a free update that will bring the creepy creatures of Dredge onto its menu. It will introduce a new "fog" weather event that will contain the Dredge content, the ability to drive Dave's boat around like you do in Dredge, a new night map, the ability to catch aberrations, a new weapon, and new "Hooded Figures" who will want to eat dishes made with the new fish.
Additionally, both games will be available at a discount on Steam on December 15 as part of a "Dredging & Diving Bundle." And it's not a bad idea to pick them up if you haven't yet. We gave Dave the Diver a 9/10 here on IGN, calling it "wholesome, wonderfully complex, and delightfully hard to put down." And Dredge got an 8/10, with our review saying its "slow dive into Lovecraftian horror intermingles with its simple fishing and sailing mechanics to create an approachable boat management sim that's as unsettling as it is relaxing." Two excellent games colliding indeed.
