There's no way around it; Barbie was an outstanding discourse on gender relations that offered a humorous but scathing critique of the patriarchy. However, aside from that, the film was also gorgeous. It captured the fantastic pink-hued magic of the titular doll and its world. In a way, due to Barbie's use of colors and effects, it has joined the ranks of other visually stunning blockbuster movies. Nevertheless, how it utilizes these aspects is similar to another, more underappreciated film: Speed Racer.
