Hit 90s sitcom Seinfeld could be coming back if a tease from Jerry Seinfeld himself is to be believed, with the comedian telling fans "something is going to happen".

An Instagram post from linda_puzzuti, who attended Seinfeld's standup show in Boston's Wang Theatre on October 7, showed the comedian's reaction to being asked if he liked his show's controversial finale.

"I have a little secret for you about the ending but I can’t really tell it because it is a secret," Seinfeld said.

Seinfeld, despite being considered one of the biggest and most influential sitcoms (and TV shows) ever made, was wrapped up in a way many fans found unsatisfying. Created by Seinfeld and Larry David and famous for being "a show about nothing", Seinfeld's two-part finale, spoilers incoming, saw its cast arrested before being sentenced to prison in what was considered by many to be a wildly off key move.

"Here’s what I’ll tell you, okay, but you can’t tell anybody. Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending; [it] hasn’t happened yet," Seinfeld teased. "And just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about it. So you’ll see, we’ll see."

That cast, which also includes Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine Benes, and Michael Richards as Cosmo Kramer, may therefore be returning for some sort of reunion of continuation. Nothing is official yet, however, so fans will just have to wait and see if anything materialises from Seinfeld's comments.

"Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending; [it] hasn’t happened yet."

Seinfeld was rated the fifth best TV show of all time by IGN readers, losing only to Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, and The Simpsons. We placed it 15th on our own list, though it was also featured on IGN's most outrageous series finales in TV history list.

"Yes, it became abundantly clear over the years that Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer weren't great people," we said. "In fact, once the show leaned into their shallowness, it hit its creative stride. But sending the guys to prison? Because they weren't great people? It was just a bit too much for many Seinfeld loyalists."
