The full trailer for Mike Flanagan’s latest horror limited series, The Fall of the House of Usher, is here, and it mixes all the horror vibes Flanagan is known for with a heavy helping of family drama.

In the trailer, which Netflix released today, we get a look at the Usher family – or, as the trailer calls them, “a collection of stunted hearts.” The series is based on the Edgar Allen Poe story of the same name, and there’s plenty of Poe-inspired spookiness in the trailer mixed in with some Succession-style family fighting. Flanagan’s no stranger to horror inspired by family trauma, so it’ll be interesting to see how his take on the 1839 Poe tale plays out.

Per Netflix’s official logline: “Ruthless siblings Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell) have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”

Fans of Flanagan’s other series like The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass will also recognize some familiar faces in the series, including Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, and Carla Gugino. Oh, and Mark Hamill’s in there too.

The rest of the cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Michael Trucco, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, and Annabeth Gish.

It’s only Flanagan’s latest collaboration with Netflix, mostly recently releasing The Midnight Club last year. The Fall of the House of Usher, meanwhile, will hit the streaming service just in time for Halloween on Oct. 12 with eight episodes.
