PlayStation Plus subscribers’ free Essential games for November 2024 are Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Death Note Killer Within, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Wednesday. Players can download the trio of games beginning Nov. 5.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 offers more arcade-style racing with Hot Wheels cars, trucks, motorbikes, and ATVs, all with upgradeable skill trees. Unleashed 2 adds new locations and a track editor, letting you make the impossible toy race course of your dreams. Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 through PS Plus.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is Tango Gameworks’ supernatural first-person action-adventure game set on the haunted streets of Tokyo. We had a mixed response to it when the game launched in 2022, writing in our review “that it’s an endearing experience. There’s a lot of care on display, from the cultural detail in the sweet side stories to the rendering of the rain-swept world itself. But whatever charm there is gets bogged down by frustrating design decisions and sluggish mechanics.“ Ghostwire: Tokyo will be available for PS5.
Death Note Killer Within will launch on Nov. 5 as a PlayStation Plus freebie. The online social deduction game for up to 10 players pits two teams, each with different objectives, against each other. According to Sony’s description of the game, “players will need to figure out each other’s identities and either eliminate L who threatens Kira’s power or seize the Death Note. Enjoy a battle of wits as Kira and his followers, or as L and the investigators in the world of Death Note. As equally matched opponents, the two teams clash to control the game while hiding their true identities from each other. The Death Note is hidden among the players, leading to a thrilling game of cat and mouse until one team overpowers the other.” Death Note Killer Within will be available for PS4 and PS5.
November’s PS Plus games will be available for download through Dec. 2.
PS Plus subscribers can still pick up October 2024’s PlayStation Plus Essential games — Dead Space, WWE 2K24, and Doki Doki Literature Club — through Nov. 4.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the lowest tier available in Sony Interactive Entertainment’s subscription service. It offers online multiplayer access, a monthly assortment of free PS4 and PS5 games, cloud storage, and discounts on PlayStation Store purchases. PlayStation Plus Essential costs $79.99 annually, $24.99 for a three-month subscription, or $9.99 monthly.
