Marvel has recently debuted an exciting new Ultimate Spider-Man series, garnering some fairly positive feedback from fans. If, like me, you've been on the hunt for a copy of issue 1 without success, consider reaching out to your nearby comic book store -- they may be able to note down your details for the upcoming reprint of the new issue. As of now, the series has achieved reasonable popularity, with sellouts reported in numerous comic stores across both the US and UK.
Otherwise, your next best bet is to simply wait it out and score the Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 instead when that releases on August 27, 2024. It will collect issues 1-4 and costs $16.19 to preorder it from Amazon right now (down from its MSRP of $17.99), or £14.25 for those in the UK. For those wondering, the new Ultimate Spider-Man isn’t a continuation of the old but instead a brand new attempt at reinventing Peter Parker and his supporting cast for a contemporary audience. The days of Spidey as a teenager struggling to balance school and his superhero career are not present here.
In other Spidey news, The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) announced the DICE awards nominations on January 10; Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is leading with nine, alongside Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 close behind with eight nominations and seven nominations respectively.
Spider-Man 2 has been tipped for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Art Direction, Character, Original Music Composition, Audio Design, Game Direction, Technical Achievement, Action Game of the Year, and Game of the Year respectively.
