When Futurama returned for a second time on Hulu, there was much rejoicing. As there should have been -- the animated sci-fi comedy had told wildly creative and sometimes even incredibly poignant stories. Season 8 was another opportunity for the series to push the boundaries of space, time and animation. But after a charmingly self-deprecating premiere, Futurama has been constantly looking back instead of going forward, raising the question of what it's going to add to the TV universe this time around.
