Most people get their first introduction to Shakespeare in school, often in English class, where the prolific author's iambic poetry and prose are taught in a historical and literary context. Many fans of science fiction and fantasy, however, have been initially exposed to the Bard's work through a less conventional -- though not entirely surprising -- source. Since the beginning, Star Trek has borrowed heavily from Shakespeare, with episode titles taken from his sonnets and plays, and characters quoting lines left and right. For many sci-fi fans, Star Trek has been the beginning of a life-long love for the Bard of Avon.
