Ryan Reynolds posted the latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine and sneakily added a QR code to the footage, leading to a disclaimer that sets expectations for the film before it releases on July 26.

A trailer announcing that tickets are now on sale for Deadpool & Wolverine surfaced online on May 20. Reynolds shared his own version of the trailer on X/Twitter with a QR code that appears in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment (0:03 seconds in, to be precise) when Wolverine walks into the frame to Madonna's hit song, Like A Prayer.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted the QR code on the building behind Wolverine, appearing between his legs for one second, and set about scanning it to unlock more content. The QR code led to another video that was promptly shared online of Reynolds reading a disclaimer for the film, full of quips about the "paper-thin" sequel.

"We're very excited to be joining you July 26," Reynolds says in the video. "Many of you are very excited. But we should set the table correctly. This film is as paper-thin as a sequel to Battlefield Earth. We're mostly going to beat each other senseless, make enemies with Disney, tell a few dick jokes, make a few jokes at my expense, make a lot of jokes at Hugh's expense, and completely sidestep Marvel's mandated after-credits sequence, which if you haven't figured it out yet, is always just a commercial for another movie which will invariably end with a commercial for another movie.

"So sit back, relax, let us lower your IQ and raise your heart rate while we travel to a vapid Dreamland, a place where grown men and grown women walk around in tights and act like it's not a giant cultural cry for help," the Merc with a Mouth actor jokingly added before signing off with a dramatic declaration, "This is CINEMA."

Director Shawn Levy previously asserted that Deadpool & Wolverine is "built for entertainment" and no "homework" needs to be done before jumping into the movie, which, based on its teaser trailers, includes several fourth-wall-breaking jokes at Disney's expense and plenty of back-and-forth banter between the two leads.

Deadpool & Wolverine will weave its title characters into the MCU when it hits theaters on July 26, 2024. It is the only MCU movie slated for release this year, plus Disney's and the MCU's first R-rated film.
