The artificer is the first and only full class added to Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. It fills a vital niche on both a mechanical and thematic front. Artificers are magical tinkerers as at home with the mechanical as they are with magic. They're also D&D 5e's only arcane half-caster, acting as a counterpart to the divine paladin and ranger.
