Today, Warner Bros. Japan revealed a sequel is in the works for its 2018 CG Batman film, Batman Ninja, called Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League.
The original Batman Ninja saw the caped crusader (alongside his trusted allies and rogues gallery) transported from Gotham City to feudal-era Japan. According to Warner Bros. Japan’s official website, actor Koichi Yamadera will reprise his role as Batman in the sequel film. The film will also see the return of the previous film’s staff members including Kamikaze Douga, the animator behind the CG anime opening themes for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
A special panel will be held on July 4 for Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League at Anime Expo 2024, alongside DC’s other upcoming anime series, Suicide Squad Isekai. Hopefully, the panel will reveal how Batman and crew get thrown into yakuza antics considering the previous film centered on their escape home from the feudal era.
In our review, we gave the film a 9.7 out of 10, saying, “Batman Ninja takes everything great about the masked vigilante and twists it in a way we’ve never seen, creating a visual marvel unlike any other Batman animated movie before it.”
