When is the Apple event?
Apple's Wonderlust event will be held today, September 12, at 10am PT / 1pm ET. Like WWDC 2023, which was held this past June, Apple is hosting a hybrid event — an in-person invite-only event held at Apple Park in addition to a livestream of the keynote.
Where can I watch the event live online?
You can watch the event on Apple's official website or its YouTube channel.
What to Expect at Apple's Wonderlust Event
While Apple does not officially announce which of its product lines will be the focus ahead of its keynote, we have a good idea of what will appear. Firstly, I would not anticipate any new Macs to be announced at this event. Nor would I anticipate Apple's mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, to be there. While it got an official unveiling at WWDC this past summer, the company has already said the headset won't be out until early 2024, so there's a chance we will get a second Fall event later this year or an event early next year that shares more details on the Vision Pro.
However, The product with the highest probability of appearing is the iPhone, which will be the headliner of the Wonderlust event. The biggest rumor for the iPhone 15 series is that it will be the first to include a USB-C charging port. Apple previously confirmed the iPhone will include a USB-C port, and this news follows a recent EU law passed which mandates hardware, including smartphones, that include a physical charger to use USB-C by Fall 2024.
Additional rumors for the iPhone 15 include all models will feature Dynamic Island, a display cutout introduced to the Pro models of the iPhone 14 last year. The iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to include slimmer bezels and a titanium frame for more durability.
Outside of the iPhone, there is a strong chance we will also see Apple Watches at this event. While I would not expect a third-generation Apple Watch SE, it is more plausible than the Series 9 and a second-generation of its high-end wearable, the Apple Watch Ultra. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple is testing a shift to 3D-printed device cases, and it will start with the stainless steel models of the Series 9. While no major redesigns are anticipated, Gurman notes that the watches will get a lot of changes internally, such as a U2 ultrawide-band chip, upgraded sensors, and overall better performance. An optical heart rate sensor is also rumored to be introduced in both watches.
Lastly, the AirPods will also make an appearance. Alongside the iPhone, Apple still has a few other products that use the Lightning cable to charge, including all three AirPods models. Mark Gurman predicts that the AirPods Pros will be the first in the line to get a USB-C port, with the AirPods and AirPods Max to follow sometime next year.
