Support for Crash Team Rumble is coming to an end now developer Toys for Bob has secured its independence from Activision.

Crash Team Rumble's final update comes out March 4, and while the servers will stay open indefinitely, the battle pass will go free, and microstransactions will be turned off. This means Crash Team Rumble will not get a Season 4. The final Season 3 added Spyro the Dragon as a playable character.

Crash Bandicoot developer Toys for Bob announced it had separated from Activision and new parent company Microsoft to go indipendent in an effort to return to its roots. And now, according to an in-game message spotted by video game historian Liam Robertson, support for the developer’s Crash Team Rumble ends soon.

According to the message, the final content update arrives March 4. The core game remains live and players have access to a free 500-tier battle pass that includes 104 new items. This includes all the battle pass content from Seasons 1, 2, and 3, as well as all the available event rewards. Crash Coin purchases will be turned off. Any coins players have can be used to buy tier skips.

Crash Team Rumble is a 4v4 MOBA-lite that only launched in June 2023 on PlayStation and Xbox. IGN’s Crash Team Rumble review returned a 7/10. “Crash Team Rumble does a great job of transforming Crash into a unique, flavorful multiplayer game with some incredible maps and fun characters, but a lack of modes, some balance problems, and an irritating unlock system means it’s more of a snack than a full meal,” we said.

It’s unclear what’s next for Toys for Bob, but it did say it's currently exploring "a possible partnership between our new studio and Microsoft", adding both Microsoft and Activision are "extremely supportive" of its new direction. While Toys for Bob's first project as an indie studio is apparently "in the early days" still, it's possible this could bear fruit as a revival of Crash, Spyro, or another IP that Toys for Bob has become known and beloved for.
