What if Doctor Who organized a time heist to steal the Philosopher's Stone from Merlin? That's a pretty great elevator pitch, and it's the premise behind a new comic book series called The Omega Eleven.
The Omega Eleven is written by James Aquilone (Kolchak: The Night Stalker – 50th Anniversary), illustrated by Zac Atkinson (Young Justice) and published by Monstrous Books. Head to the slideshow gallery below for a closer look at the first issue:
The Omega Eleven features a cast of public domain characters that includes Doctor Omega, the protagonist of Arnold Galoupin's 1906 novel Le Docteur Oméga. In recent years, Doctor Omega has taken on a second life, as fans now regard him as a literary precursor to Doctor Who. Omega's "companion" in the book is none other than the Charles Dickens character Jack Dawkins, the Artful Dodger. Together, the duo will assemble a team to travel back in time to Camelot to steal the Philosopher's Stone from Merlin himself.
"The Omega Eleven can best be described as Ocean's Eleven meets Rick and Morty and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," Aquilone tells IGN. "I've never had as much fun writing a story as I've had with Omega. It's truly an epic series, spanning dozens of fictional worlds like Camelot and featuring a huge cast of legendary characters."
"Omega Eleven is a book I've wanted to do forever!" Atkinson says. "A fun and epic team-up story featuring legends that have fallen into public domain. James is the perfect partner to bring our bumbling but brilliant time thieves to life. It's a comedic mix of Dr. Who, Ocean's 11, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."
The Omega Eleven is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter. Assuming it's successfully funded, it should be released later in 2024.
