Warning: The below contains full spoilers for Ahsoka Episode 7, which is now streaming on Disney+.

Ahsoka Episode 7 featured an unexpected cameo from a classic Star Wars character in a fleeting moment that surprised and delighted fans in equal measure.

The penultimate episode of Ahsoka, "Dreams and Madness", sees Hera Syndulla having to answer to the New Republic for disobeying an order and heading to the planet Seatos to help Ahsoka Tano, but a tense exchange between Hera and Senator Xiono is quickly interrupted by the arrival of a surprise guest at the hearing.

Proceed with caution! You're about to enter major spoiler territory.

In walks none other than C-3PO with a message from Senator Leia Organa. The gold-plated droid saves the day and settles the matter that is in dispute by presenting a data transcript to the Defense Council committee, showing that "Senator Organa personally sanctioned General Syndulla's reconnaissance mission to Seatos".

The Ahsoka cast has featured plenty of familiar faces for Star Wars fans, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and even a brief appearance from Captain Rex, but fans were both shocked and overjoyed to see Anthony Daniels' C-3PO join the mix.

C-3PO's presence in the Star Wars universe dates back to the original 1977 film A New Hope. Daniels' fan-favourite droid starred in all nine Skywalker Saga feature films, plus Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He also appeared in several spin-offs, including animated series, video games, and a minor cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Daniels, who has now portrayed the galaxy's beloved protocol droid for more than 45 years, said in 2020 that he has no plans to retire his Star Wars role because he is "so happy and grateful and proud" to be part of the ever-growing franchise and with many more projects in the pipeline there's every chance he could return again.

The season finale of Ahsoka arrives on Disney+ on October 3, so you will want to get caught up on the story so far before then. IGN's review of Ahsoka Episode 7 called it a "largely a piece-moving affair" that puts the show's three lead characters "back in action for a fast-paced adventure" and "a necessary bit of fun".
