Venom 3 just got a new release date: November 8, 2024. Although originally slated for June 2024, Venom 3 has finally nailed down a release date following the end of the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, which sees production resume on the sequel.

“Untitled Venom Sequel (Columbia Pictures) – November 8, 2024 (from July 12, 2024),” confirmed Sony Pictures in an update to its release calendar. “Will screen in premium large formats and IMAX.”

At the moment, little is known about Venom 3 except that Tom Hardy will return. “Tom Hardy returns as the lethal protector Venom for the third installment of the series, which will be directed by Kelly Marcel who also wrote the screenplay with the story by Marcel and Hardy,” read the film’s official update. “Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker are producing.”

Of course, there has already been plenty of speculation about the upcoming Venom sequel. Notably, Sony recently posted (and then deleted) a short video of Hardy’s Venom fighting Topher Grace in a mash-up of clips from its other movies, sparking speculation there could be a crossover coming in Venom 3. The video featured clips of Hardy and Grace’s Venoms, edited to imply they were fighting each other. The fact it was swiftly deleted has made the short video all the more interesting.

Venom 3 was officially announced at CinemaCon back in 2022 and Hardy confirmed in June 2022 that the script for Venom 3 was complete. As for whether two Venoms will feature in the upcoming sequel, I get the feeling Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened up the possibility thanks to its multiversal shenanigans. But we’ll have to wait and see.

IGN’s Venom 2 review gave it 7/10 and said: “Venom: Let There Be Carnage finally pairs Venom and Eddie with a worthy villain in a story that embraces its weirder side. Andy Serkis directs a fun and action-packed sequel that highlights Venom as his own character and features Woody Harrelson and Naomie Harris as breakout villains with excellent chemistry.”
