DC Comics was putting out the best comics of the Golden Age. The publisher was named National Publications at the time, and they had the comic industry on lock. Marvel was around, but they didn't have the string of hits that DC had at the time. The Golden Age DC Universe was quite different from what it would become down the road in the Silver Age, but it introduced many characters and concepts that would change the comic industry.
