A new One Punch Man video game is in development for PC and mobile. One Punch Man: World is developed by Perfect World, the company behind Tower of Fantasy and PC and mobile Persona 5 spin-off The Phantom X, and published by Crunchyroll Games, the interactive division of the anime specialist.
One Punch Man: World is a multiplayer action game based on the One Punch Man anime, and is set for PC, iOS, and Android with cross-platform play and progression. Expect to see characters and abilities from the anime in video game form, Crunchyroll said.
Here’s the setup: “A sinister wave of monster attacks has left Earth’s cities and the Hero Association under duress. However, after three years of special training, Saitama has become so powerful that he can defeat opponents with a single punch. The thing is, Saitama just does the hero thing for fun, but when every enemy goes down in one punch, overwhelming power can be kind of... boring. Now, in front of the laid-back strongest hero, a new enemy appears. Will he be able to show his full power today?”
You’ll unlock and level up heroes from the anime, including Genos, and enter the Hero Association hub to meet friends, take on missions, and team up for raids against enemies. Combat involves timed dodges, combos, and ultimates. You fight your way through moments lifted from One Punch Man’s first season “punch for punch”, and get to explore Z-City with side activities and mini-games.
Expect a free-to-play launch at some point in 2023, supported by microtransactions. Pre-registration for Windows PC is now open on the official website in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa as well as in Latin America, and the Nordics.
