Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) veterans Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth are in negotiations to team up for a movie adaptation of Don Winslow’s Crime 101, per Deadline.

Ruffalo is in talks to star in the project, with Hemsworth in talks to star and produce with his producing partner Ben Grayson. Although The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal was involved last year, he did not move forward with the project, Deadline reports. The Amazon MGM film is expected to premiere in theaters in 2025.

The studio did not immediately respond to IGN's request for comment.

No plot details have been shared yet, though we do have some clues to follow thanks to Winslow’s original short story. The 2021 novel follows detective Lou Lubesnick as he tracks down what he believes is a one-man crew that is responsible for a series of high-level jewel heists. The thief’s code, called Crime 101, has kept them out of trouble for years, but the detective has an opportunity to stop the perpetrator before they pull off one last score.

Bart Layton (The Imposter, American Animals) is directing the movie and wrote the script with Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Snowman). Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan as well as RAW’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger, and Shane Salerno are all producing. RAW CEO Joely Fether is also attached as an executive producer.

Hemsworth and Ruffalo’s work together stretches as far back as Marvel’s 2012 superhero team-up film, The Avengers, where they starred as Thor and Bruce Banner (a.k.a. Hulk), respectively. The duo has appeared in various Marvel projects together through the years and eventually went on to co-star in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarök. Crime 101 presents an opportunity for two of the MCU’s original heroes to star alongside one another without their magical hammers and gamma-radiated muscles.
