The Big Bang Universe will continue... at least for a little while longer. While Big Bang Theory spin-off and ratings monster Young Sheldon will end its run after its seventh and final season, it doesn't look like that will be the end of the line. Variety reports that CBS is close a deal with Warner Bros. TV for a direct-to-series order of a Young Sheldon spin-off focusing on Georgie and Mandy.

What's most interesting is that the proposed spin-off, which is as-yet-untitled, is planned to be a multi-camera show. Young Sheldon is a single-camera comedy, while The Big Bang Theory was a multi-camera sitcom. If the plan for this spin-off holds, it would be the first time that a multi-camera sitcom spawned a single-camera comedy that then spawned a multi-camera comedy. As it turns out, TV spin-offs are complicated.

More importantly, Montana Jordan (Georgie) and Emily Osment (Mandy) are in talks to reprise their roles. Young Sheldon producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Holland, and Steven Molaro would also return, and are expected to write the first episode. Should the show be picked up, it would also ensure a Lorre show is still on CBS, keeping alive a decades-long streak.

The show would focus on Georgie and Mandy's time as young parents. The two begin dating in Season 5 of Young Sheldon when Georgie is 17 and Mandy is 29. The lie to each other about how old they are, which naturally causes problems when Mandy gets pregnant. She gives birth to their child, Constance Cooper, during Season 6, and are engaged by the end of the season. Clearly, Lorre and company feel like there's a lot of comedy to be mined from that scenario.

It should be noted that this spin-off is not the Big Bang Theory spin-off in the works at Max, which Lorre is also working on. That is an hour-long drama that will feature a new cast, though past Big Bang Theory characters may return as guest stars.

Whatever happens, one thing is clear: it's Young Sheldon's world, and we're all just living in it.
