Dave Filoni is often celebrated for his willingness to dive deep into the depths of Star Wars lore, which goes a long way toward appeasing the Star Wars fans who remember the Expanded Universe of the 1990s. With the reintroduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the latest episode of Ahsoka, it's very likely that Filoni is now planning a loose adaptation of the 1991 Timothy Zahn novel Heir to the Empire. With Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm and its production of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, it has now become impossible to adapt Heir to the Empire exactly as it was originally written -- which is disappointing for a number of reasons, but especially for fans of one important character from the Expanded Universe.
