Modern is not known for being a very beginner-friendly Magic the Gathering format. High deck prices, linear combo strategies, and the upgrade in complexity from most other formats make Modern a bit of a hard sell. Despite all that, Modern is a format well worth getting into. Unlike Standard, the shifts in the meta are much slower and a lot of decks have survived years with relatively minor alterations. Pioneer players would also be well suited to Modern, though they will have to adjust to an accelerated pace of play. Modern is one of Magic's best competitive formats, testing player skill and the limits of their deck knowledge.
