The R16 is the newest Alienware Aurora gaming desktop for 2023. The R16 chassis is 40% smaller in volume compared to previous iterations. It features a simple yet proven airflow design; air is drawn in through the side intake vents over the GPU area as well as a 120mm rear fan drawing air in and a generously sized 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler exhausts air out through the top. A side benefit is that the GPU is supplied with fresh air from the outside instead of recirculating hot internal air.
The Alienware Aurora R16 is equipped with an Intel Core i7-13700F CPU, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The 13th generation Intel Core i7-13700F Raptor Lake CPU boasts a max clock of 5.2GHz with 16 cores, 24 threads, and a 52MB cache. This is an excellent gaming and workstation chip. The Intel Core i9 is better for apps that can take advantage of more than 16 cores, but for games there's pretty much no performance difference. The "F" in 13700F simply means that the chip doesn't have onboard graphics (iGPU). That won't matter if you have a discrete GPU, which in this case is the RTX 4060 Ti.
The RTX 4060 Ti 8GB video card is the perfect GPU for 1080p gaming, although it's also capable of handling 1440p gaming. It's about 5%-10% faster than the RTX 3060 Ti at 1080p and supports the newer DLSS 3.0 and 3.5 technology for even better performance in games that support it. It's about 20%-25% faster than the RTX 4060 in 1080p gaming.
