CES 2024 unveiled the new 32" 4K OLED dedicated gaming monitors, but the manufacturers have been slow to release these monitors to the world. For those of you who have been waiting for LG to release its own variant, your wait is almost over. The upcoming 32" LG 32GS95UE-B 4K OLED gaming monitor is finally up for preorder for $1399.99 with an approximate April 15 ship date. If you're looking for the best gaming monitor for 2024 and you're not a fan of oversized gaming monitors or exaggerated ultra-wide formats, this should definitely be on your short list.
Preorder the 32" LG 32GS95UE-B 4K OLED Gaming Monitor
The LG 32GS95UE-B is a 32" monitor with a native 4K (3840x2160) resolution and an anti-reflective matte finish. This is a true OLED panel with a near instantaneous response time and near infinite contrast ratio (which means perfect black levels). It is VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 certified with a 98.5% DCI-P3 color gamut and 275nits of brightness. It's one of the few OLED 240Hz gaming monitors and it's a certified G-SYNC compatible gaming monitor. Connectivity wise, the AW3225QF has two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port. There are also a couple of USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-B ports, but strangely no Type-C.
The LG 32GS95UE-B has some interesting tricks up its sleeve. One new feature is called "Dual Mode": you can switch been 4K @ 120Hz or 1080p @ 480Hz. The 480Hz mode might be useful for gamers who need the highest possible frames for fast moving FPS, MOBA, and racing games. Whichever mode you choose, you'll need a powerful graphics card to make full use of this monitor's capabilities, something like a GeForce RTX 4070/3080 at the minimum. If you've got a top-of-the-line GPU like a GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER or 4090 or a Radeon RX 7900 XTX, then there's no better complement than a 4K monitor.
Another new feature is "Pixel Sound". The speakers on this monitor are placed behind the screen pointed directly towards you. LG claims that these front-facing speakers produce a better three dimensional soundscape than the traditional down-firing speakers found in most other monitors.
The Competition: 32" Alienware AW3225QF 4K QD OLED Gaming Monitor
Up until now, the only 32" 4K OLED gaming monitor available for purchase was the Alienware AW3225QF 4K OLED gaming monitor. Here are the major differences:
- Price (LG costs $1399, Alienware costs $1199)
- Availability (LG ships April 15, Alienware ships immediately)
- Panel (LG uses an LG OLED panel, Alienware uses a Samsung QD OLED panel)
- Curve (LG is a flat panel, Alienware is a 1700R curved panel)
At this point in time, if I were to choose, I would probably go with the Alienware AW3225QF monitor. It's available, it has outstanding reviews, and it's $200 cheaper. I certainly have faith that the LG 32GS95UE-B will be an excellent monitor on par in quality to the Alienware AW3225QF (I own LG OLED TVs and absolutely love them) and if the extra wait time or price premium isn't an issue for you, you won't be disappointed.
