As filming for Peacemaker Season 2 is well underway, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn teased fans with a mysterious image of what seems to be a new character — and it didn't take long for the theories to start rolling in.
Gunn posted the image on his social media channels on Wednesday, obviously beckoning fans to come up with ideas with the caption, "Who might this be?" In the image, we simply see the toned, shirtless back of a man with what appear to be pigtail braids and feathers on his arms.

The prevailing theory for the image is Apache Chief, a Native American superhero introduced in Hanna-Barbera's Super Friends cartoon in the '70s and '80s. Apache Chief would inspire two other characters later: Long Shadow in Justice League Unlimited, and Manitou Raven in various DC Comics. All three names have been making the rounds as theories swirled on Wednesday.
Apache Chief's most well-known superpower was his ability to turn into a 50-foot giant, which we can imagine the characters in Peacemaker having some fun with.

Still, those weren't the only ideas making the rounds. Others suggested that the silhouette may actually be The Warlord, a fairly deep-cut sword-and-sorcery-inspired hero introduced in DC Comics in the '70s, while the vigilante John Butcher was also suggested on Reddit.
No matter who the character ends up being, the image is pretty significant regardless, as it serves as our first official look at Peacemaker Season 2. We still don't have a solid release date, but Gunn recently confirmed that it will arrive at some point in the second half of 2025 after Superman hits theaters. We also know that Season 2 "essentially picks up" just after the events of Season 1, and that Frank Grillo will join the show as Rick Flag Sr. (the same character he's voicing in animated series Creature Commandos).
For more in the meantime, check out our 9/10 review of Peacemaker Season 1, which Samantha Nelson called "a stunning crystallization of James Gunn’s examination of flawed heroes and the power of friendship."
