The Sandman is a name thrown around a lot in comic books, though the title would get its start in the Golden Age. Long before Neil Gaiman's seminal Vertigo title or the even the Marvel Comics Spider-Man villain, Sandman was one of many masked vigilantes who delivered two-fisted justice in a world in need of heroes. In fact, the popularity of Gaiman's take would later revive the original version of the hero.
