The calming and peaceful Pokémon Sleep and charming social interaction game Pokémon Go have somehow clashed in chaos as ravenous players of the latter seek out an exclusive Snorlax.

As reported by Eurogamer, Pokémon Go players have infiltrated Pokémon Sleep and are abusing a Pokémon Go accessory to fake their way through hours of sleep and unlock the special reward.

Pokémon Sleep offers cosy rewards to players for getting a good night's sleep, primarily tracked through a smartphone. The $55 Pokémon Go Plus+ accessory can also be used to track sleep though, and owning one unlocks the chance to catch a special Snorlax wearing a nightcap in Pokémon Go.

The opportunity to catch one only appears after a week though, so instead of being patient, players with the accessory have found a way to break Pokémon Sleep. The app requires users to log at least 90 minutes of sleep, so players are turning on the sleep censor for that long, faking a nap, and then changing their phone dates forward 24 hours to a new day.

This lets players skip through a week in just a few hours, breaking the entire premise of Pokémon Sleep to get their hands on that special Snorlax. As is often the case with Pokémon, the opportunity to catch the sleepy Pokémon in an incredibly rare shiny form is perhaps what's driving this particular train of chaos.

Pokémon Sleep was announced way back in May 2019 but immediately went back to bed until The Pokémon Company re-revealed it in February 2023. You can also check out IGN's bizarre preview of the game based on an equally bizarre press event.
