In the Star Trek franchise, Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets it serves are a bastion of noble purpose. For the most part, it has consistently portrayed in a positive light as a noble effort to help the various species of the universe. But in Futurama, those ideas are taken to a darkly comical extreme.
