Here’s some good news for retro gaming fans who also enjoy building stuff. The nostalgic LEGO Icons Atari 2600 set is currently on sale at both Amazon and Target for $159.99, a 33% discount from its normal price of $240. That’s the lowest price it’s ever been on Amazon – though it did drop slightly lower at the LEGO Store during the last Amazon Prime Day.

The set has you piece together a 1:1 recreation of the Atari 2600 console itself, plus a joystick, three classic game cartridges (Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede), and a “wooden” storage shelf for the games. You can even stick the cartridges into the slot in the system.
As if that’s not cool enough, it also has you build a hidden retro scene that you can flip up out of the console for display. It’s an old-school game room, with a minifigure sitting in front of a CRT television, playing a micro version of the console. There’s an Indiana Jones poster on the wall, a boom box, an old phone, and a cat. What else do you need?

All in all, it’s a great set for anyone with fond memories of playing Atari games. (It also makes a great gift for anyone with those same memories). It obviously won’t appeal too much to younger kids, but it’s a LEGO set for adults that’s meant for display, not play. So grab it if you want it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the set gets retired soon, now that it’s been available for a couple of years.
