A love story is as good as its characters. It doesn’t matter if the plot is solid; if the main characters don’t ooze romance, it’s hard to treat viewers with quality chemistry and give them memorable couple “moments.” Despite the countless romance anime titles to choose from, only a handful of protagonists manage to make their romance worthwhile. If the guy or the gal isn’t swooning over their love interest or literally forcing them into a relationship, it’s not a true romance by anime’s definition.
