Produced by TROYCA, a studio founded in 2013 with only a few titles to its name, Overtake! is understandably struggling to gather attention in a season packed with strong sequels such as Spy x Family and The Eminence in Shadow and outstanding new series like Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries. With its original story gravitating around the relationship between a young F4 driver and a photographer whose career has hit a wall, Overtake! may sound like any other sports anime, perhaps accounting for its 7.37 score on MyAnimeList. Nevertheless, it looks like audiences are slowly catching up if the 47 thousand members on MAL are anything to go by — especially if one considers that MF Ghost, the other racing anime of the season that can count on Initial D's fanbase, has grabbed a mere 46 thousand.
