The Penguin is back in a new image from the upcoming The Batman spin-off.

Revealed by Empire Magazine, the new image showcases Colin Farrell who’s back as the Gotham City crime lord wannabe, Oswald Cobblepot.

And it looks as though we’ve got more of an idea about how Cobblepot’s story will play out.

“The Penguin, coming in 2024, will pick up days after where The Batman ended, exploring the moves that Cobblepot makes in the power vacuum left by Carmine Falcone’s departure,” explained Empire.

Obviously, Cobbeplot has had his eye on Gotham’s crime syndicates for a while. Now, with Carmine Falcone out of the way, it looks as though he’s making movies to take over his enterprises, and the loud-mouthed wise guy will be stepping up to claim his own criminal empire.

Our first look at The Penguin came back in April when Max released a teaser from the show, which was still in production.

The Penguin is billed as the next chapter in The Batman saga and will fit in between The Batman and its upcoming sequel, The Batman: Part Two. The show sees the titular Batman villain climbing to the top of Gotham’s criminal underworld to take what he believes should be his.

Referring to himself as the new Kingpin of Gotham, it looks as though his new look reflects that title, channeling Marvel’s own Kingpin with a white suit jacket to reflect his newfound status.

How this will all pan out remains to be seen, but here’s hoping Cobblepot ends up going up against The Batman once more.

IGN’s The Batman review gave it 10/10 and said: “The Batman is a gripping, gorgeous, and, at times, genuinely scary psychological crime thriller that gives Bruce Wayne the grounded detective story he deserves. Robert Pattinson is great as a very broken Batman, but it’s Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano who steal the show, with a movingly layered Selina Kyle/Catwoman and a terrifyingly unhinged Riddler.”
