Fast X serves as the first part of the Fast and Furious finale, which is ambiguously set to take part over either two or three movies, along with a new standalone Luke Hobbs movie starring Dwayne Johnson. The tenth main entry in the franchise stars Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto and the rest of his Fast Family as they face off against Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes — a truly unhinged villain with a connection to a previous heist in the series.
Fast X was somewhat of a slow starter at the box office. The sequel saw a 65% dropoff in its second week and hit paid VOD just three weeks after its release, but that doesn't really spell trouble for the future of the series.
We called Fast X mediocre in our review, saying, "Jason Momoa’s bonkers performance as Dante Reyes deserves instant canonization on the Mt. Rushmore of Fast & Furious villains, but that feels like the one differentiating element of this movie."
