Both The Mummy and the Indiana Jones movies are staples of the action-adventure genre, and they're more similar than different. A (loose) historical basis, a confident protagonist who could talk his way out of any situation, and just enough "fairy tales and hokum stuff," as The Mummy so eloquently put it, to give the film a sense of magic -- all these things are prevalent in both films. However, one major aspect of The Mummy that is leagues better than Indiana Jones: its female characters.
