Bumblebee director Travis Knight's next project may be the long-awaited Masters of the Universe movie. Deadline reports that Knight is in final negotations to direct the movie, which is rumored to be heading to Amazon after being dropped by Netflix over budget concerns.

Knight boasts a background in both live-action and animation, having directed the acclaimed Kubo and the Two Strings in addition to Bumblebee, which we called the "best live-action Transformers movie since the 2007 film."

According to Deadline's report, Knight will team up with Chris Butler to rewrite the initial draft of the script, which will reportedly be an origin story of sorts for He-Man. The film has been in various stages of development since at least 2007, with Kyle Allen set to play He-Man. Netflix dropped the project in 2023 after spending $30 million on the film's development

Despite the various setbacks the film has faced over the years, Mattel seems determined to get it done. The series has found success in animated releases like Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and a live-action version has been long-anticipated by fans.

Of course, this wouldn't be the franchise's first foray into live-action. Dolph Lundgren took on the famous role of He-Man back in 1987 in a film that has come to be regarded as a campy cult classic. For more, check out our guide to watching the Transformers movies in chronological order.
